They describe themselves as an ‘independent rock band from Scotland and Berlin’ but with their latest single, “Wash Yourself”, Milwalkie can lay claim to being purveyors of fine, wistful electronica.
Described by it’s writer, Matthew Morris, as having “a summery kind of vibe to it but you know there’s something not quite right”, “Wash Yourself” is indeed soft like a hazy August day tinged with sadness. As we can see from the video, a relationship has fallen apart and no amount of luscious, soothing melodies will change that.
Directed by Rocco Lacitignola and featuring Nicole Repond as the heartbroken damsel wandering the streets of Berlin, the video was shot in just one day. “He was so relaxed about the whole thing whilst being completely focused”, explains Morris “and had such a clear idea of what he wanted”.
Milwalkie are releasing “Wash Yourself” independently on 22nd July (you’ll be able to buy it/stream it from all the usual digital outlets) and are currently recording their second album with plans to release it later this year, possibly August.
