As if we didn’t already have enough reasons to be in love with MS MR, they have inadvertently turned us on to another exciting new pop act that is now rocking our world.
Curious about who this YADi (who had been announced as the support for the MS MR show tonight (11 March) at XOYO) was, we fired up Soundcloud and were quickly hit with a rush more powerful than ten cans of Red Bull.
From the very first ‘click click boom’ of the gunshot at the beginning of her latest offering, “The Blow”, we are treated to high energy and vibrant poppy sounds. Tribal beats pulsate underneath laser sharp synth sounds and YADi’s echoey vocals. Reminiscent of the dark vs light pop of Nikki & The Dove, this is equally infectious and colourful.
Evidently she has some pretty heavyweight supporters in the industry and it is easy to understand why. “Just keep on shooting coz I can’t feel the blow” she sings; it might as well be ‘Just keep on hitting repeat coz you know you can’t stop’.
