Listen: Public Service Broadcasting – “Theme From PSB”

PSB Theme from...

As the prevalence of the satellites in the sky has, over time, swollen to cover the entirety of the earth with their signals, so the profile of Public Service Broadcasting has, over the last year, swollen to cover the length and breadth of the land. As well as reaching out to the world via the means of new technology and all things digital, these fine upstanding gentlemen who plunder the past to bring us the sound of the future have taken a very traditional route to sharing their music. They have gigged, gigged, and gigged some more.

In the last few months Team PSB has travelled back and forth across the country and beyond, visiting practically everywhere you could ever think of to inform, educate and entertain the masses. Rather than sit back in their corduroy pyjamas sipping on cups of earl grey for a while, the guys are continuing on with a legion of dates announced for the summer and beyond.

They are also releasing a new single from their magnificent debut album, the bouncy, energetic and full-of fun, “Theme From PSB”. Featuring, as always, the clipped tones of broadcasters of yesteryear, it is the well-to-do cousin of that other classic musical theme, “Theme From S-Express”. Think Oxbridge yin to university of the street yang.

The single (which incidentally is not exactly the same as the album version) will be released on 12 August both digitally and on a limited edition pink vinyl, the b-side of which is a live recording of previous single Everest, recorded at their sold out date at London’s Village Underground in May.
