So, here we go. In 30 minutes time we and Robin Seamer of Breaking More Waves will be starting our 24 hour sponsored blogathon to raise money for Cancer Research.
Robin has explained his motivation very eloquently already this morning and ours is quite simple.
Over the years we have lost family members to the disease, seen friends lose family, felt the fallout for those left behind and dealt with unrelenting anguish and grief it causes. So when Robin started talking about blogging for 24 hours to raise money for Cancer Research, we knew immediately that we’d be doing it alongside him.
So what is a Blogathon?
Well, at 10am we will be posting an overview of how it will work and some basic rules, but in essence, from 10 this morning until 10 tomorrow morning, Robin and I (on our respective blogs) will be finding and writing about new music. Here at Alphabet Bands we hope to have some rather special tunes and chatter included within that, but as per the rules, we will not have heard the music before it arrives or we find it.
That’s going to be the hardest bit. Usually we like to spend time with music and let it get under our skin for a period of days or weeks before we write about it. So to effectively go posting after one or two listens will be quite alien to us, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be posting any old rubbish and banging out one or two lines max. We are treating this seriously and as such there won’t be a post every 15 minutes. But there will be a lot of posts and a lot of great quality music.
What can you do to help?
Simple, read it, enjoy it, share it with your friends but most importantly, sponsor us and help us raise as much money as possible. As of this morning we have raised over £800 between us, we want that be a lot more by the end of the 24 hours. We don’t normally ask for anything, we don’t get paid to do this, so please spare what you can, even if it is just £1.
To sponsor us, please use the links below or the big button.
Thank you, see you in 30minutes.
