Since we first featured the remarkable talent that is Ollie Rudge (in what remains the favourite of our session so far), he’s played some shows, some festivals and released a tune or two with his band Eyes In Istanbull. By all accounts his also been working hard to make our proclamation that he will become a success story come true; making connections and making more music. He’s put a few demos together and while the work continues, he’s shared one with the world.
There are many reasons why we like Ollie, and on “Station Wave” he shows most of them off. Particularly his ability to convey emotion and the intricacies of life and a relationship in such a simple yet refined manner. His soulfully emotive vocals are part apologetic embrace, part charming smile as his imaginative and graceful imagery slips from his mouth. Elegant guitar lines give body and depth to a deceptively simple track and we find ourselves getting lost in the visuals and texture of a goodbye.
We’ve said it before but Ollie really is something special and we can’t wait to hear more.
