Aquilo – “I Gave It All”

Aquilo

Earlier this week we mentioned the great year that Daisy Victoria has been having and today, continuing the theme, we’re talking about another band that has had a great 2014. In fact, since we first encountered Aquilo back in March last year they’ve come a long way, baby.

Following the release of their gorgeous debut EP this year, a stunning remix of Sivu’s “My Oh My” and an equally magnificent performance at Latitude, Tom and Ben are preparing to release a follow up extended player. The precursor for which is the beautifully melancholic new track, “I Gave It All”.

It’s music to gaze out at the rain to. Heartfelt and emotive, the vocals are mesmeric as they call out plaintively across the night sky, raindrops of piano and stuttering electronic beats caressing the window as they do. It is a spectacularly wonderful and mournful ballad that is as elegant as it is moving, a track that perfectly encapsulates everything Aquilo is about and as it builds towards dénouement, it is a track that raises hairs on necks and goosebumps on arms. It is simply stunning.
