Blog Sound 2015

Happy New Year everyone, we hope you had a wonderful festive break full of fun, frolics and more frolics. We’d like to take this opportunity to wish a particularly warm and heartfelt tip of the hat and jaunty hello to all 15 of the artists who were longlisted for the Blog Sound of Poll, 2015.

We won’t bore you with the background or the rationale of the poll at this stage, not at this exciting time as the result is about to be revealed. (If you do want to know more about it, please feel free to click here, you’ll find the longlist there as well). Instead we shall just get on with the good stuff, after the customary talent-show pause of 16.3 minutes, and tell you the winner.

Ah hell, we can’t wait that long.

Congratulations to Låpsley, winner of the 2015 UK Blog Sound of Poll!

Evidently the producer-singer-songwriter was the clear winner of the poll with double the number of points than any other act on the 15 strong long list. Which, any way you care to look at it, is pretty darn impressive. We can’t recall any of the previous polls ever being so emphatic.

Still, it isn’t that big a surprise when you think about it. Her minimalist production, all spaces and dripping, noodly electronics, and soothingly cool and haunting vocals have won her a lot of fans (and a deal with XL) in the last 18 months or so. With her debut EP due out on 5 Jan, we won’t have to wait very long for the collective prediction of 62 UK based blogs to start coming true.
