After the neon laced machine gunning of Ms Mr’s latest yesterday, it is time now for something completely different but equally stunning.
“If It Hurts” by London based singer-producer Lyza Jane is the complete antithesis to that high octane, adrenaline fuelled extravaganza. Instead it resides in a deliciously languid lake, with electronics that trickle gorgeously over the muted trip-hop beats. As well as a light 90s vibe to it, it has a restrained, hushed beauty, calm and alluring. The vocals are soft, soothing and captivating, it is the sort of thing you want to hear at 3am, again and again and again.
